Terms of service

These are the rules Grout runs by: what you get, what it costs, what you agree not to do with it, and who carries what when something goes wrong. "You" is the cleaning business using Grout; "we" is Grout.

The agreement

Creating an account, paying for a plan, or using Grout at all means accepting these terms and the privacy policy with them. If you accept on behalf of a business, you are saying you are allowed to commit that business to them.

Your account

One account runs one company. The person who signs up is its administrator, and is responsible for everyone they invite to it — office staff and crew alike — and for what those people do with it.

  • Give accurate details, and keep the billing contact current.
  • Keep sign-in details to yourself; an account is for one person, not a shared login.
  • Tell us at support@getgrout.com as soon as you think somebody is in an account uninvited.

Plans, trials and payment

A plan is priced per company, per month, with as many team members as you need on every tier. Each plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and each has an annual price that is charged a year up front.

  • A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price then published, until it is cancelled.
  • Payment is taken by our billing provider from the card you give it. If a payment fails, it is retried, and an account left unpaid can be suspended.
  • Prices exclude sales tax and VAT unless the page taking the payment says otherwise.
  • We can change prices. A change is announced at least 30 days before it applies to your renewal, and you can cancel before then.

Cancelling

Cancel whenever you like, from your account. Access runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing renews after that. We do not refund part of a period unless the law where you are says we must. Export anything you want to keep before the period ends.

Your data stays yours

Your customers, jobs, quotes, invoices, messages and files are yours. You give us permission to store and process them for the one purpose of running the service for you, and the privacy policy says what that involves.

You are responsible for having the right to hold the details you put in, and for what you send with them: marketing messages, reminders and texts all have to follow the law where your customers are, including the rules on consent and on unsubscribing.

Taking payments from your customers

Card payments from your customers run through your own connected payment account, under the payment provider's terms as well as these. The money, the payouts, the refunds, the chargebacks and the liability for a disputed job are yours. Grout takes no share of what you charge.

Your website and what you publish

Grout hosts a website for your company. What it says is yours, and you are responsible for it. Do not publish anything unlawful, anything you have no right to use, or anything that claims to be a business other than your own. We can take down content that breaks these terms, and will tell you why.

AI drafts

Some features draft review replies, messages and quote estimates with AI, from your own settings and records. A draft can be wrong. Check anything that reaches a customer or moves money before it goes; once it is sent, it was sent by you.

Fair use

Do not use Grout to:

  • Break the law, or help somebody else break it.
  • Reach another company's data, or test the service's security without asking us first.
  • Overload it, scrape it, or work around the limits of your plan.
  • Resell access, or run another business's operations from an account bought for yours.
  • Upload malware, or send messages to people who have not agreed to hear from you.

Availability, support and change

We work to keep the service up and to warn you before planned maintenance, but we do not promise it will never be interrupted. Support is by email at support@getgrout.com.

The product changes. Features are added, and occasionally one is withdrawn — when that affects how you work, we say so before it happens. A feature labelled beta is still being worked on and can change or disappear.

Suspension and closure

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that goes unpaid, or that puts the service or another company at risk. Except where the law stops us, we tell you why and give you a chance to put it right where the problem can be put right. On closure, access ends and your records are handled as the privacy policy describes.

What we do not promise

The service is provided as it is. Beyond what these terms say and what the law requires, we make no other promises about it — not that it will suit a particular purpose, and not that it will be free of faults or interruptions.

Liability

As far as the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for lost profits, lost business, or indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited — for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence — and nothing takes away a right you have under the consumer or business law that applies where you operate.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change that affects what you get or what you owe is announced by email or in the workspace before it applies. Carrying on after that means accepting the new version; if you would rather not, cancel.
